ALERT: Democrat Governor Declares State Of Emergency

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for New York City and much of the Empire State due to a heat wave this week that could trigger temperatures over 100 degrees through Wednesday.

The Democrat governor declared a state of emergency for 32 of the state’s 62 counties, including all five boroughs of the Big Apple.

The heat wave is expected to break 125-year-old records.

From the New York Post:

Deadly thunderstorms and flash flooding were already rocking upstate over the weekend, and a days-long heat wave stretching across the Northeast could push temperatures past 100 at least one day this week — with the humidity only warming things up further, forecasters warned.

Monday’s temperatures in the city will soar close to 100 degrees, and Tuesday, they are set to hit a sweltering 102, forecasters said. Both days stand to shatter previous heat records, which were 96 degrees in Central Park in 1888.

Storms in central New York on Saturday night brought in high winds and heavy rains that toppled trees and crushed homes, killing at least three people in Oneida County — including young twin girls, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department.

“New York is continuing to see dangerous heat conditions across the state today, with even more hot weather coming tomorrow,” Hochul said.

“Stay indoors if possible, keep hydrated, & check on your neighbors — especially those with health conditions,” she added.

Per NBC New York:

Tuesday is even hotter, with records likely for many. It looks like it’ll be the hottest air temperature we’ll have seen in Central Park since 2012. Central Park’s record-high for the month of June is 101 degrees. A number of school districts, including the public one in Newark, New Jersey, are closing early because of the heat.

All three of the hottest days — Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday — will approach records, and not just at Central Park. Record-warm lows are possible on those days, too, based on our current forecast.

In New York City, Con Ed is asking customers to conserve power, with the grid expected to be heavily taxed.

“The National Weather Service has upgraded the Heat Watch to an Extreme Heat Warning for New York City. This is the highest level of heat alert,” the NWS posted over the weekend.
