A federal appeals court ruled Friday that illegal immigrants detained inside the United States have no constitutional right to a bond hearing, no matter how long they have lived in the country.

A bond hearing allows detained migrants to ask an immigration judge for release on bond while their immigration cases proceed.

In a 10-7 decision, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans reversed a lower panel and sided with the Trump administration. The ruling closed the main legal route that judges in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi had used to free detained migrants who challenged how long they were being held.

The ruling backs a policy, put in place last year, that lets the government hold immigrants arrested in the interior until their deportation cases end, without giving them a chance to argue for release before a judge. It is a sharp break from how previous administrations handled such cases, when migrants who were not flight risks or dangers could often post bond.

U.S. intelligence has warned that Iranian plots to kill Americans abroad have reached "advanced stages," as Washington reduces diplomatic staffing across the Middle East amid mounting threats and the prospect of renewed military strikes against Tehran.

The warning was contained in an unclassified October 23 memorandum from Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, obtained and published by Axios, which reported that the intelligence was among the factors driving the diplomatic drawdowns.

"Through various channels, we have received intelligence that Iran has substantially increased efforts to target U.S. personnel," Clayton wrote. "The lethal plotting efforts by the Iranians against U.S. citizens have reached advanced stages in both the Middle East and certain other countries."

The memorandum, which also copied CIA Director John Ratcliffe, warned that intelligence concerning the Iranian threats was relevant to more State Department personnel than were currently cleared to receive it.

Clayton said the information had already been shared with appropriately cleared senior State Department officials and offered to downgrade as much of the sensitive intelligence as possible so Rubio could distribute it more widely.

President Donald Trump warned Friday that the United States could launch another round of military strikes against Iran unless Tehran reaches an agreement, escalating his threats as Washington intensifies economic pressure on the Islamic Republic.

"We may do another little Epic Fury, or they’ll agree," Trump told supporters at a midterm campaign rally in Fort Myers, Florida, referring to the U.S. military operation launched against Iran in February.

"If they’re smart, they’ll just say, 'Let’s get down to business.' But, you know, I doubt they’ll do that because perhaps they’re not smart," he added.

The remarks marked Trump’s latest warning of renewed military action against Tehran, following his declaration Thursday that American forces had already "knocked the hell out of" Iran and might go "a little bit further."

PARIS (AP) – The Louvre and several other major Paris museums will be closed on Saturday over concerns about potential violence during planned protests, France´s culture ministry said.

In a statement to The Associated Press, the ministry said the Orsay and Picasso museums were also among those that will close.

Protests last Saturday devolved into mayhem, with rioters setting fires, smashing shop windows, looting and clashing with police. The ministry called on all institutions under its authority to adopt any necessary measures to ensure “visitor safety, staff protection and the preservation of artworks,” according to the statement.

Others are taking the same tack. After two days when admission was invite-only, Art Basel Paris opened to the public on Friday – but only for the day, with the threat of unrest prompting organizers on Thursday to cancel the weekend program.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Charlie LeDuff said in a Wednesday report that federal records had tied an 88-year-old retiree in Milan, Michigan, to nearly $4,500 in new ActBlue donations over six weeks, among them four logged on a day she had no internet access.

LeDuff reported that 562 transactions were attributed to Elizabeth Waffle during that stretch. Four of them, totaling $22, posted the very day he first visited her rural trailer, where the power, water, and internet are all off.

During that first visit, LeDuff and Waffle tried to make a donation together and could not get online.

"Last time we were here, remember, we tried to make a donation," LeDuff said, recounting the exchange in a follow-up interview.

Among the new transactions was $51 logged for Abdul El-Sayed, whom LeDuff called "the king of the Michigan micro-donors." El-Sayed won the Democrat Senate primary in August by under a percentage point and faces Republican Mike Rogers in November, in a contest analysts rate as a possible tipping point for Senate control.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) says she is “working class” despite her annual congressional salary of $174,000. Omar made the claim as federal investigators probe her finances.

In an interview with MS NOW’s Chris Hayes, Omar said she is “working class” and lives “paycheck to paycheck,” unlike other members of Congress. Omar has the same base salary as most other members of Congress, which stands at $174,000 annually.

“What is your financial situation?” Hayes asked Omar, to which she responded, “I mean … it’s working class, I guess, like paycheck to paycheck still. We’ve got four kids and you know, we live like a basic life.”

“There are some of us that don’t come from wealth and don’t have wealth,” Omar said, referring to her colleagues in Congress.

Omar’s remarks come as United States Attorney Jeanine Pirro has revealed that the Somalia-born congresswoman’s finances are being investigated by her office, in addition to an immigration fraud probe by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

In January, the New York Times reported that the DOJ opened an investigation into Omar's finances in 2024.

New York City’s (NYC) socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani advised illegal aliens on how to dodge U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and instructed them on their rights.

In a video posted to X with English subtitles, Mamdani, speaking in Spanish, explained that ICE agents “cannot legally enter” private spaces unless they have a judicial order, and that illegal migrants have the right to be silent.

“If you encounter ICE, these are your rights,” Mamdani said. “First, ICE cannot legally enter private spaces without a judicial order. These spaces include your home, hospitals, churches, and private areas of your workplace.”

Mamdani continued to explain that on documents, the illegal aliens should keep an eye out for the words, “United States District Court” and for a judge’s signature. The NYC mayor added that if the agents “don’t have a judicial order,” they can state that they “do not consent” to the ICE agents entering.
