Legendary entertainer Billy Joel revealed some personal news on Friday after he fell on stage during a performance earlier this year.
He stunned fans by canceling all of his future tour dates and announcing a serious health diagnosis.
As People reported:
On Friday, May 23, the “Piano Man” singer announced that he will be canceling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).
This health condition has been made worse by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance, per a statement obtained by PEOPLE that was then posted on his Instagram.
Joel, 76, is undergoing specific physical therapy under his doctor’s instructions. He has also been “advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period.”

At least for now, Joel is holding out hope that he can return to the stage.
As the New York Post reported:
The announcement ended on a positive note, with his team telling fans that Joel is “thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.”
The five-time Grammy winner also released a statement to his fans.
“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,” Joel shared.
Sad to see the Piano Man go down like this back in February:
