Dr. Ben Carson is beloved by many….and for good reason.
By all accounts simply a great man with a kind soul.
He was also one of the first of the 17 Republican challengers in 2016 to drop out and wholeheartedly endorse President Trump.
Known for being a brilliant surgeon, many thought he might have been nominated to chair the Dept. of Health & Human Services or as Surgeon General, but he didn’t do either of those in 2016.
Instead, you might recall that Dr. Ben Carson served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) during President Donald Trump’s first administration. He held this position from March 2, 2017, to January 20, 2021. As HUD Secretary, Dr. Carson focused on issues such as affordable housing, public housing reforms, and policies aimed at reducing homelessness. His tenure also included initiatives to promote economic opportunity in distressed communities through programs like Opportunity Zones.
He of course did a great job.
But many were wondering if this time around he’d nab the Surgeon General role.
Turns out it’s not happening this time either.
Dr. Carson himself confirmed that’s not on the table in this post to X:
I am excited to speak with President Trump about how I will continue to advance the America First agenda, and I am meeting with him in the near future.
However, contrary to reports, I will not be serving as the Surgeon General.

It’s unclear from the post if President Trump did not offer him the job or if he did not want it.
But he does clearly leave the door open to serving in some other capacity in the second Trump Administration.
And I’d love to see it!
These two go way back and have always had a special bond.

FLASHBACK: The Moment Donald Trump Saved a Forgotten Dr. Ben Carson
FLASHBACK: The Moment Donald Trump Saved a Forgotten Dr. Ben Carson
Do you remember this moment?
I have NEVER forgotten this moment....
In 2016 at an early debate, NBC forgot to call Ben Carson's name.
The other candidates blew past him, but when Trump's name was called instead of going to the debate stage, Trump remained with Carson until they called his name.
Historic moment.
Pure class.
Take a look:

The two have always been close:
Our nation is in desperate need of strong leadership. A President who fights for the American people, our freedoms, our safety, and our future. Donald J. Trump is that leader and I am proud to give him my full endorsement for President of the United States today. Join me in this… pic.twitter.com/qHlYsJ83rp

Don't forgot, Dr. Carson gave President Trump his full endorsement for 2024 too.
Dr. Ben Carson has always been two things: (1) incredibly smart, and (2) a class act.
And those two characteristics were on full display today as he took to the microphone at President Trump's Rally in Iowa to give President Trump his full endorsement.
Do you remember this?
It's a tremendous 8 minutes that is worth watching again.
