Vice President Vance cast the tie-breaking vote as Senate Republicans on Tuesday delivered a huge legislative victory for President Trump by passing his One Big, Beautiful Bill Act after hours of tense negotiations that lasted through the night.

The final vote came after lawmakers worked through the weekend before launching a 27-hour marathon of amendment votes on the floor, during which Republican leaders sought to win the support of holdouts.

GOP Sens. Thom Tillis (N.C.), Rand Paul (Ky.) and Susan Collins (Maine) voted against the measure, along with every Democrat.

The legislation appeared to be on the cusp of failing on the floor after Senate GOP leaders spent hours trying to hash out a compromise with Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, an independent minded Republican, who worried that the legislation’s deep cuts to Medicaid and federal food assistance funding would hurt her home state.

According to Axios, House Speaker Mike Johnson is calling House Republicans back from recess in an attempt for a Wednesday vote.

His target is to send the bill to President Trump’s desk by July 4th.

“MAGA VICTORY: The United States Senate PASSES President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill,” the White House stated.

Axios noted:

At the last moment, Senate GOP leaders doubled the size of a new fund aimed at improving rural health care access to $50 billion — a move aimed at securing Collins’ support.

Collins earlier offered an amendment to increase the funding to $50 billion, but it was rejected 78 to 22, with most Democrats voting against it.

An amendment to remove the 10-year moratorium on state regulation of AI passed 99-1, with only Tillis voting against it.

Democrats forced votes on dozens of amendments on everything from bolstering Medicaid to gutting tax cuts for wealthy earners, all of which failed on the floor.

House lawmakers have been raising alarms about the Senate’s changes, with conservatives decrying how much it would add to the deficit and moderates worried about its deeper cuts to Medicaid.

Elon Musk vowed to primary members of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and vote for the legislation.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” Musk said.

“Anyone who campaigned on the PROMISE of REDUCING SPENDING , but continues to vote on the BIGGEST DEBT ceiling increase in HISTORY will see their face on this poster in the primary next year,” he added.
