Democrat Governor Sued By RNC And Trump Campaign

The Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee sued Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and others for improperly using some federal offices as voter registration sites.

The suit accuses the Democrat governor of permitting federal Veterans Affairs and Small Business Administration sites to be utilized for voter registration.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson was also named in the lawsuit.

The campaign and RNC said they don’t have the authority to use the Veterans Affairs and Small Business Administration sites as ‘voter registration agencies.’

“Under Michigan law, the authority to make such designations is held solely by the Legislature,” the filing said, according to NBC News.

Per NBC News:

Michigan is a state that Trump won in 2016 and then flipped to back Joe Biden in 2020. It is expected to be a pivotal battleground state in this year’s election.

Trump has long sought to sow the seeds of doubt about elections before they occur, and he leveled unfounded accusations at several states in the lead-up to the 2020 election, which he then repeated as part of baseless claims to overturn the outcome when he lost.

Trump’s campaign echoed complaints that voter integrity was at risk in the suit filed Monday.

“The RNC and its members are concerned that Defendants’ failure to comply with Michigan statutes governing VRA designation undermines the integrity of elections by increasing the opportunity for individuals to register to vote even though they are ineligible to do so, and by sowing confusion regarding whether the agencies purporting to offer assistance in registering voters are doing so in accordance with applicable law,” says the suit, which was first reported by MLive.com.

Trump and the RNC just filed a lawsuit against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer for signing an executive order allowing state and federal agencies to be used as voter registration agencies (VRAs) in violation of election law

Under her order, Veteran Affairs, Housing Development Authority, and other agencies will basically become voter registration machines to help Democrats. This is also incredibly suspicious considering the confirmed instances of the federal government handing voter registration forms to noncitizens

“Under Michigan law, the authority to make such designations is held solely by the Legislature. See Const. 1963, art. 2, § 4(2) (“The legislature shall enact laws to regulate the time, place and manner of all nominations and elections, to preserve the purity of elections, to preserve the secrecy of the ballot, to guard against abuses of the elective franchise, and to provide for a system of voter registration and absentee voting.”

The lawsuit says Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson also lacked the authority to unilaterally enter into an agreement with the Small Business Administration to designate SBA offices as VRAs

To put it very simply, Democrats are inflating voter rolls with both real & fictitious registrations so they can cheat without getting caught

“The federal government should not be using American taxpayers’ dollars to conduct unauthorized voter registration activities. This is an illegal attempt by Biden, Whitmer, Benson, and the party in power to manipulate our country’s most important election. We are committed to stopping this election integrity violation and securing our elections,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said.

From the GOP:

  • In 2021, Biden issued an Executive Order directing federal agencies away from their core responsibilities and functions to engage in political voter registration activities.

  • The Biden Administration has deputized thousands of taxpayer funded government employees to benefit the Biden Campaign.

  • Governor Whitmer and Secretary Benson have designated Small Business Administration and Department of Veteran’s Affairs offices in Michigan as voter registration agencies – contrary to Michigan and federal law, which do not authorize them to make such designations.

  • These agencies should be 100% focused on supporting our Veterans and small businesses, not spending resources to influence the election in Michigan.

  • We are suing to stop this overreach in Michigan.

  • This is just our latest effort to stop Governor Whitmer and Secretary Benson’s long line of election integrity violations. We must secure Michigan’s elections.
