According to POLITICO, deep-blue New York is potentially in play for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
The report says “elected officials, union leaders and political consultants are panicking” at Biden’s diminishing support in the Empire State.
“We’re still acting like this is a one-party state, which for pretty much 20, 25 years it has been,” Democratic Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine said, according to the outlet.
“I truly believe we’re a battleground state now,” he added.
I see a lot of “well it’s all very complicated, none of us can really know” takes on Biden.
Friends. The man is turning NEW YORK into a battleground state. This isn’t very complicated.

POLITICO reports:
They’re so worried they’ve been trying to convince the Biden team to pour resources into New York to shore up his campaign and boost Democrats running in a half-dozen swing districts that could determine control of the House.
Biden aides have not focused on New York, committing no significant resources to a state where they expect the president to easily win all 28 electoral college votes in November.
But the warning signs are impossible to ignore and have been building over the past year. Two private polls conducted in a swing New York House district and reviewed by POLITICO — one in September and another in March — found former President Donald Trump leading Biden there by 1 point, a virtual tie. And public polls over the last four months found Biden’s lead had winnowed to just 8 points across New York — an unusually narrow gap in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans 2 to 1.
🚨NY is a battleground state!🚨NYers are tired of Dems putting criminals first and giving away billions to illegal immigrants while citizens are left to figure out how to afford to live here.
Republicans are addressing those concerns head on. #VoteGOPhttps://t.co/k5B5SCzR9O

Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY) has called on Joe Biden to step aside.
“For the good of our country and the future of our kids and grandkids, I am asking Joe Biden to step aside in the upcoming election and deliver on his promise to be a bridge to a new generation of leaders,” Ryan said.

Per CNN:
Anxiety over Biden’s potential drag particularly in the House is rising in New York, where Democrats are desperate to win back suburban seats they lost to the GOP in the 2022 midterms. On Wednesday, Democratic Rep. Ritchie Torres sounded a more dire tune. than he had earlier this week.
“There must be a serious reckoning with the down-ballot effect of whomever we nominate,” Torres wrote on social media, beseeching Democrats to dispassionately study the “the cold hard numbers.” “If we’re going to choose a particular path, we should be clear-eyed about its consequences.”
In a comment to CNN, Torres added, “If we are going on a political suicide mission, then we should at least be honest about it.”
New York Democrats have struggled at the congressional and local level since 2020. Democrats on Long Island were nearly wiped out in municipal elections in 2021 – a sign of things to come. Gov. Kathy Hochul only defeated former GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin by a little more than six points in 2022, the same year Republicans flipped four seats on Long Island and the Hudson Valley. In 2023, Democrats lost control of additional local strongholds in the suburbs.
