Don Lemon Goes On Unhinged Rant After Time Names President Trump Its Person Of The Year

Each year, Time magazine selects its “Person of the Year,” and in 2024 it only made sense to select President Trump, who became just the second American in history to be elected to two non-consecutive terms in the White House.

But for his many detractors on the left, even a landslide victory and a broad coalition of support isn’t enough to warrant such an honor from the magazine. Former CNN host Don Lemon recently expressed such sentiment, as The Hill reported:

“They could’ve done it to someone who actually stood for democracy, who stands for democracy in the country,” Lemon said on his podcast “The Don Lemon Show.”

“Just because you are elected president of the United States does not mean that you should be Person of the Year.”

This is the second time Trump has been chosen for the title; the magazine previously gave him the distinction in 2016, when he won his first presidential campaign.

Trump, 78, rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange in New York City on Thursday morning after receiving the title.

“Time Magazine, what are you doing? Let me ask you, Time Magazine, what would you say to those women who I guess still read Time Magazine?” Lemon asked.

“You have someone on the cover of your magazine who is an adjudicated assaulter,” he continued. “You have someone who inspired an insurrection. We have someone who, without a doubt, the evidence is there, tried to overturn a free and fair election. You had someone who had multiple criminal accounts and was found guilty on multiple criminal counts. And you name them Person of The Year.”

“Is this a joke? Did we get something wrong? Did someone scam us? Are we sure about this, producers? There is a convicted felon on the cover of Time Magazine as the Person of the Year. Maybe we’re being scammed. Did someone put out a fake tweet or something about this? I don’t know,” Lemon finished.
