Fox News invited Donald Trump and Kamala Harris to participate in a debate on September 17th.

Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier were recommended to moderate the debate.

Per CNBC:

Fox News proposed that its political anchors, Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, serve as moderators for the debate. The company said it is “open to discussion” on the exact terms of the debate, including the date, format, location and whether an in-person audience would be present.

The Harris and Trump campaigns did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment on whether they would accept the invite.

The debate would serve as a redemption opportunity for Democrats, following President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance in June.

Here’s a reminder of the last time Kamala Harris entered the debate stage during a run for the presidency:

The Hill reports:

Biden and Trump had agreed to two debates this cycle: One last month on CNN, which sparked calls for Biden’s withdrawal from the race, and a second on ABC on Sept. 10.

Trump’s campaign has said he would debate Harris multiple times but has pushed back on a clash with the vice president hosted by ABC.

Trump in social media posts this week has signaled a preference for a debate hosted by Fox, the top-watched cable channel that boasts a prime-time lineup of pundits and commentators that are largely supportive of him.
