Shaun Maguire, a general partner at Sequoia Capital, said he donated $300,000 to Donald Trump following Thursday's guilty verdict in the “hush money” witch hunt.
“I just donated $300k to President Trump. The timing isn't a coincidence,” Maguire said.

“Back in 2016 I had drunk the media Kool-Aid and was scared out of my mind about Trump. As such I donated to Hilary Clinton’s campaign and voted for her. By 2020 I was disillusioned and didn’t vote – I didn’t like either option. Now, in 2024, I believe this is one of the most important elections of my lifetime, and I’m supporting Trump,” Maguire wrote on X.
“I know that I’ll lose friends for this. Some will refuse to do business with me. The media will probably demonize me, as they have so many others before me. But despite this, I still believe it’s the right thing to do. I refuse to live in a society where people are afraid to speak,” he continued.
Donald J. Trump's financial supporters are coming to the rescue.

“After Biden’s disastrous presidency, Trump has a lot of supporters in Silicon Valley; many are just afraid to admit it. But with each act of courage, like this one, the dam begins to break,” David Sacks wrote.

“I believe that the Biden administration has had some of the worst foreign policy in decades,” Maguire wrote.
“And this has manifested in two major Wars breaking out during their administration, with Russia's invasion of Ukraine and Iran's proxy attack against Israel. Was the timing just bad luck? I don't believe so. I believe that a weak America leads to a chaotic world,” he continued.
POLITICO reports:
Within minutes of the guilty verdict being read in the New York court, the Trump campaign’s official website redirected to a fundraising page declaring he was a “political prisoner.”
“I was just convicted in a RIGGED political Witch Hunt trial: I DID NOTHING WRONG! They’ve raided my home, arrested me, took my mugshot, AND NOW THEY’VE JUST CONVICTED ME!” the page said.
The judge did not order Trump taken into custody after the verdicts Thursday, but set sentencing for July 11. The former president later left the courthouse in a Secret Service motorcade.
The fundraising page also included Trump’s mugshot from when he was arraigned in Georgia last year in a case accusing him of participating in a scheme to overturn the 2020 election results. The page asked for donations of $20.24 and up for Trump’s joint fundraising committee.
