Donald Trump’s New York Gun License Reportedly To Be Revoked

The New York City Police Department is preparing to revoke President Trump's gun license after his guilty verdict in the hush money witch hunt, according to an NYPD official.

The official said “Trump’s New York concealed carry license was quietly suspended on April 1, 2023, following his indictment,” CNN noted.

Per CNN:

Two of the three pistols he was licensed to carry were turned over to the NYPD on March 31, 2023, and a third gun listed on Trump’s license “was lawfully moved to Florida,” the person added.

After Trump was convicted of 34 felonies on May 30, 2024, he could be in violation of multiple state and federal laws if he still possesses that third gun in Florida. CNN has reached out to representatives of Trump to determine whether he still has a gun in Florida.

Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is a federal crime.

The NYPD’s Legal Bureau will complete its investigation “that will likely lead to revocation of his license,” the senior police official said. Trump could seek a hearing challenging the revocation.

From the New York Post:

Under New York state and federal law, convicted felons are barred from possessing any type of firearm, with Trump legally mandated to surrender all weapons to authorities by his July 11 sentencing.

Trump could keep his weapons by applying for a certificate of relief from civil disabilities, but the former president’s legal team has yet to file the petition, sources added.

Since Trump’s New York gun license application included a request for confidentiality, the details of his license are exempt from public records.

The GOP-front runner could also legally keep his firearms if an appeals court ends up overturning his felony convictions from the hush money trial.
