As Americans look forward to Independence Day, one Republican congressman hopes to capitalize on that patriotic spirit with a new resolution proclaiming July as “American Pride Month.”
In a recent interview about his proposal, Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) acknowledged that June’s annual LGBT “Pride Month” gave him the inspiration to call for a more unifying designation for the month that follows.
He told Breitbart that America has essentially been “hijacked by agendas that cater to a loud but narrow minority,” noting that his resolution is designed to help refocus the nation on its common identity:
“If corporations and left-wing activists can co-opt June to promote their ideology under the banner of ‘Pride Month,’ then surely July, the month of our founding, can and must be reclaimed to honor something far greater: American Pride Month,” he said.
Hunt noted that the initiative began in 2022 and has since grown into a grassroots campaign rooted in patriotism and civic pride.
ADVERTISEMENTHis resolution honors historical figures ranging from George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to Rosa Parks and the Buffalo Soldiers, and includes recognition of U.S. veterans, civil rights leaders, and space pioneers.
“This initiative… was born out of a desire to celebrate the extraordinary individuals and timeless values that have defined our republic, from the patriots of 1776 to the leaders of today who continue to defend freedom and preserve our way of life,” Hunt said.
The congressman also called on President Trump to formalize the month through a presidential proclamation.
“No president in our history understands the value of patriotism and passing that down more than President Trump,” Hunt declared.
Hunt’s assessment of the divisive message surrounding June’s celebration of sexual orientations seems to be echoed by the subdued corporate celebrations Americans witnesses last month:
Culture is changing, man.
For the past several years, thousands of major corporations rushed to change their logos at 12:01 AM on June 1st for ‘Pride Month’
This year? It’s really hard to find a Fortune 500 corporation engaging in the ritual. Here are some examples.

Today is the last day of ‘Pride Month’ and I gotta say— this year was the least obnoxious year we’ve had in a longgggg time for it all…
Are companies finally learning we’re over the woke nonsense?

Pride Month has been very noticeably quieter this month than years past. It’s clear the general public has had enough of the LGBTQIA+ bullshit & more & more companies are catching on. A large part of this is due to LGBs fighting back. And that’s something to be “proud” about.

Hunt’s office posted an official statement on Monday recognizing his new proposal:
Today, Congressman Wesley Hunt introduced a resolution declaring July as “American Pride Month.” Congressman Hunt will launch American Pride Month tomorrow with a video starring President Trump and all the Americans who have made this country the best in the world. Congressman Hunt will post every day about a significant moment in American history to show the incredible achievements and sacrifices that this country has faced.
It is important that we foster a sense of patriotism and preserve America for the next generation. Not only does this include teaching and celebrating the patriots who won the American War of Independence and laid the groundwork for our nation, but it also includes celebrating the future and the success that is yet to come.
Here’s some more commentary regarding the lackluster corporate promotion of LGBT propaganda by corporations last month:
