It seems that just about any time Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) opens her mouth, something absurd spills out.
Every once in a while, though, a bit of unintended truth might be hidden in her politically divisive colloquialisms.
This week, the Texas Democrat essentially acknowledged that her party has been incapable of resonating with voters on the strength of the its policy platform.
Instead of taking an introspective look, however, Crockett simply urged Americans to blindly lead where she and other Democrats lead — as long as it’s in opposition to the Trump administration.
As the Daily Caller reported:
“It’s not that I’m the type of person that tries to convince people that they have to see the world the way I do. I think that’s where we kind of get lost because we want to say this is only right. This is civil rights. This is what we should do, right? But we ain’t got time to convince people of our position,” Crockett said.
“What we do have time to do is just be honest about it and say the reason you may be losing your farm has nothing to do with that trans kid that you thought you were voting against,” Crockett said. “The reason you may be losing your farm has nothing to do with the war, right? Because I know how passionate people were about the war as well.”
In March, Crockett came under fire for calling Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who is confined to a wheelchair, “Governor Hot Wheels” and a “hot ass mess.” While Crockett later said on X that she was not referring to the governor’s paraplegic state, the Republican governor shrugged off the comment in a Fox News interview.
“So it is so important that we just take the time and focus [on] our friends and our families and our neighbors and say, ‘Yeah, you know, we see the sideshow that they’re putting on.’ But at the end of the day, you tell me what matters most to you,” Crockett said.
Her complaints about a supposed GOP sideshow fell flat in the context of her own history of over-the-top rhetoric and antics:

I’m calling on @AGPamBondi to have Rep. Jasmine Crockett arrested.
The video proof is irrefutable. She physically assaulted Charles Downs.
He has already filed a police report.
No one is above the law, right?
Just imagine if he had done this to her.pic.twitter.com/pNgjRK3T00

Last week, she attracted backlash for her comments about illegal immigration, per Fox News:
Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, a member of the far-left group of progressive lawmakers known as “the Squad,” told congregants at a historically Black church that America needs robust immigration because “we done picking cotton.”
Crockett, who represents Texas’s 30th Congressional District, made the remarks during Connecticut-based Grace Baptist Church’s 125th anniversary celebration held over the weekend. The comments were part of Crockett’s broader attempt to slam the Trump administration for cracking down on illegal immigration.
“So I had to go around the country and educate people about what immigrants do for this country, or the fact that we are a country of immigrants. The fact is ain’t none of y’all trying to go and farm right now,” Crockett said, garnering a sheepish laugh from a few members of the audience.
“OK, so I’m lying?” Crockett shot back, noticing the awkward silence. “You’re not! You’re not! We done picking cotton! We are. You can’t pay us enough to find a plantation.”
Here’s some relevant coverage of that incident:
