Nikki Haley Issues Statement Following Trump Announcing She’s Not Invited Into Administration

Former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley, who served in the first Trump administration as UN ambassador, responded to Trump’s public statement that she’s not invited in his second administration.

“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation. I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump said on Truth Social.

“I was proud to work with President Trump defending America at the United Nations. I wish him, and all who serve, great success in moving us forward to a stronger, safer America over the next four years,” Haley said.

Per Fox News:

Haley during her run for the Republican candidate attempted to cast herself as an alternative to Trump, but eventually penned a supportive op-ed about the presidential candidate two days before Election Day.

The former South Carolina governor wrote the recently-published opinion piece, which is titled “Trump Isn’t Perfect, but He’s the Better Choice.”

“I don’t agree with Mr. Trump 100% of the time,” Haley conceded. “But I do agree with him most of the time, and I disagree with Ms. Harris nearly all the time. That makes this an easy call.”

Trump’s announcement to exclude Haley and Pompeo from his second administration received widespread cheers.

Axios reports:

There is plenty of water under the bridge between Haley, Trump’s former UN ambassador, and the president-elect after they clashed during the GOP primary. Though she ultimately endorsed Trump, she rebuked him on the campaign trail as “unhinged” and “toxic.”

Trump had previously said Haley would be on his team in “some form” after she vowed to vote for him.

There was even speculation she could serve as the president-elect’s running mate — an idea Trump quickly quashed in May.
