“Operation Exodus” – U.S. State Department Evacuating Americans From Israel

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said the State Department is evacuating Americans from Israel amid the heightened conflict in the region.

“The Department of State has begun assisted departure flights from Israel,” Huckabee said.

“If you are a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident currently in Israel or the West Bank and seeking U.S. government assistance to depart, please complete this form so the Department of State can better assist you and provide you with timely updates,” he added.

“‘Operation Exodus’ is helping US Citizens evacuate Israel. We can’t part the Red Sea, but are parting the ‘Red Tape’ to help people who wish to leave!” Huckabee said earlier.

“Operation Exodus” is helping US Citizens evacuate Israel. We can’t part the Red Sea, but are parting the “Red Tape” to help people who wish to leave! @usembassyjlm has arranged for masses to leave & our team is working around the clock to assist. If you need assistance, please go to the website at end of this post and request help. With airspace mostly closed, the challenges are great. Once on the list you will find out options to leave via cruise ship, commercial or charter flight or a few USGov’t operated flights. If given an option, TAKE IT. If you turn down evac offer, it will be offered to next person on list. Our goal is to get as many out as possible safely & we can’t guarantee preferred destination or means of travel. If you don’t register, we won’t know you are here & need assistance. Be prepared-it could take a few days to get everyone out due to very limited flights and ships & a very high demand. In the meantime, PLEASE stay near a shelter and at the sound of the siren, get to shelter immediately. We have almost NO report of injury or death to those who were in a shelter underground. Our colleagues @StateDept in DC are working hard to help us find resources to fly, drive, or sail out of country. If you need assistance to evacuate, we won’t know unless you register at:https://mytravel.state.gov/s/crisis-intake

Per CBS News:

The U.S. State Department has also placed Israel under a Level 4 travel advisory, telling Americans not to travel there due to “armed conflict, terrorism and civil unrest.” Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel’s major airport, is currently closed and several commercial airlines have paused flights from Israel to the United States.

In the meantime, Americans in Israel organized evacuations via other measures. Birthright Israel said in a statement to CBS News that the organization evacuated approximately 1,500 program participants aboard the Crown Iris, a luxury Israeli cruise ship operated by Mano Maritime, sailing from Ashdod Port to Larnaca, Cyprus.

Charter flights from Tel Aviv, organized by not-for-profits and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, carrying hundreds of Americans evacuating the Middle East landed in Tampa, Florida, on Friday.

Others decided to exit through the border with Jordan and take a car to the capital of Amman and fly from there to the United States, one parent with a child studying in Israel told CBS News.

Gov. DeSantis greeted Americans who arrived in Florida after evacuating Israel.

From the Associated Press:

The U.S. evacuated 79 staff and families from the U.S. Embassy in Israel on Friday as the conflict between Israel and Iran intensifies and growing numbers of private American citizens seek information on how to leave Israel and Iran.

An internal State Department memo says the military flight, the second known to have occurred this week, left Tel Aviv for Sofia, Bulgaria, where some or all of the passengers were to get a connecting charter flight to Washington.

The document, which was obtained by The Associated Press, also said that more than 6,400 U.S. citizens in Israel had filled out an online form on Friday alone asking for information about when and if the U.S. government would organize evacuation flights. An additional 3,265 people, some of whom may also have competed the form, called an emergency number seeking assistance.

The document estimated that between 300 and 500 people per day could need evacuation assistance should the U.S. decide to offer flights or ships to get Americans out, as the U.S. ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, has said is being considered.
