President Trump is looking to primary Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky.
Trump has launched a new Super PAC called Kentucky MAGA in hopes of unseating Rep. Thomas Massie.
The 47th President’s move comes shortly after Massie called Trump’s strikes on Iran unconstitutional.
Axios had more details to report:
President Trump’s political operation has launched an aggressive effort to unseat Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, its first such effort to defeat a sitting Republican incumbent, Axios has learned.
ADVERTISEMENTBy going after Massie, Trump’s team is looking to put wayward Republicans on notice that they’re ready to play hardball.
Massie has attacked Trump over his strike on Iran, saying on X that it was “not Constitutional,” prompting the president to fire back on Truth Social that the congressman is “not MAGA.”
He also called Massie “weak, ineffective” and “disrespectful to our great military, and all that they stand for.”
Massie was one of two House Republicans to vote against Trump’s “big beautiful bill” last month, leading Trump to declare that he should be “voted out of office.”
Trump’s $500 million political apparatus is the most powerful, well-funded force in American politics — and gives Trump a weapon with which to target any lawmaker who crosses him.
Trump’s team has launched Kentucky MAGA, a super PAC devoted to defeating Massie in the May 2026 primary.
The organization will be run by Trump’s senior political advisers, Tony Fabrizio and Chris LaCivita.
LaCivita said the PAC would spend “whatever it takes” to defeat Massie.Plans for taking on Massie were in the works before the congressman decided to call Trump’s attack on Iran unconstitutional, a Trump aide said.
Trump’s operation has been talking with potential Republican challengers to Massie.
ADVERTISEMENTAides say the goal is to rally around one Massie opponent, so that multiple rivals don’t splinter support.
The Trump team earlier this month quietly commissioned a survey gauging Massie’s support in his conservative central Kentucky district and found that the congressman would be vulnerable to a Trump-backed primary challenge.
The survey, which was conducted by Trump pollster John McLaughlin, found that 52 percent would support a Trump-endorsed candidate and 23 percent support Massie.

Here was Massie’s response to Trump:
I went on TV today to say we shouldn’t get into another war. Trump watched it and posted: “we will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him in the Republican Primary, and I’ll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard.”

Before Massie claimed Trump’s attack on Iran was unconstitutional, Massie repeatedly called for Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” to be voted down by lawmakers.
Per The Courier Journal:
Kentucky U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie was one of two Republican “no” votes on a sweeping House bill that could make major changes to Medicaid, food stamps and taxes.
The bill, which President Donald Trump has called the “big, beautiful bill,” passed the House early May 22 on a 215-214 vote. All Democrats voted against the bill, along with Massie and U.S. Rep. Warren Davis, R-Ohio.
Republicans could only lose three votes in order for the bill to pass, and the rest of Kentucky’s Republican representatives voted in favor of the bill. U.S. Rep. Morgan McGarvey, the lone Democrat in Kentucky’s federal delegation, also voted “no.”
ADVERTISEMENTThe bill would implement campaign promises Trump made, including eliminating taxes on workers’ tips and overtime.
Massie’s opposition to the bill didn’t come as a surprise, as he spoke against the measure prior to the House vote. In an Instagram post, Massie said he opposed the bill partly because it will add $20 trillion of federal debt over 10 years.
