Not long after the news broke that President Trump would be offering a ‘last minute’ ceasefire deal to Iran…
President Trump slammed French President Macron for publicly talking out of turn and pretending to know the President’s business.
Initially, Macron stated publicly and on camera that the reason President Trump abruptly changed his plans and left the G7 summit early was to work on a cease fire agreement between Iran and Israel.
Here’s a clip Reuters shared on X of Macron’s comments:

Macron made it sound as if it was common knowledge among the G7 group that President Trump had extended an offer to both sides.
In fact, I was just on the verge of bringing you that news a little over an hour ago…
Not long before President Trump rebuffed the French President for initiating the gossip mill, with presumably incorrect information!
It did seemed rather strange that Macron would describe the mood as “positive” when President Trump left, alongside President Trump’s seemingly URGENT warning that Tehran should be completely evacuated!:
“Iran should have signed the “deal” I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” –President Donald J. Trump pic.twitter.com/oniUSgsMWA
— The White House (@WhiteHouse) June 16, 2025
Nevertheless, even as his own French news channel was highlighting President Trump’s OMINOUS warning to evacuate the Iranian capital…
They simultaneously ran with Macron’s gossip, emphasizing that President Trump rushed back to Washington to work on a ceasefire, as this report from France 24 news shows:
French President Emmanuel Macron said Trump had made an offer for a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
Trump had earlier urged everyone to immediately evacuate Tehran, and reiterated that Iran should have signed a nuclear deal with the United States.
The G7 has struggled to find unity over conflicts in Ukraine and between Israel and Iran as Trump overtly expressed support for Russian President Vladimir Putin and has imposed tariffs on many of the allies present.
ADVERTISEMENTA US official said Trump would not sign a draft statement calling for de-escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict.
Still, Macron said Trump’s departure was positive, given the objective to get a ceasefire.
“There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange. An offer was made especially to get a ceasefire and to then kick-start broader discussions,” Macron told reporters.
“We have to see now whether the sides will follow.”
That seems to have been as far from the truth as it could get, according to President Trump.
He took to social media on his Truth Social account just a short time ago to vent against what now appears to be Macron either lying, or presuming to know what he was talking about without any real knowledge:
Here’s the full text of President Trump’s response to Macron, calling him a “Publicity Seeking President”!:
Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a “cease fire” between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!
Whether purposefully or not — President Trump has me scratching my head on that one!
What is BIGGER than a cease fire between Israel and Iran considering all that is going on in that situation?
Just a short time ago, news outlets were running with Macron’s statements, assuming that a ‘last chance’ offer had been made.
President Trump HAS been making calls for Iran to accept a deal before it’s too late.
But Macron’s apparent inaccurate gossip, coupled with those calls from the President, quickly turned in to the assumption that Iran was getting a ‘last chance’ to avoid possible destruction, as was reported by the New York Post:
President Trump reportedly plans to offer Iran a “last chance” to accept a nuclear deal amid Israeli attacks on Tehran.
The proposal is expected to keep the Trump administration’s red line that the Iranian regime engage in no uranium enrichment, but could be “slightly better” than a previous offer made about a week and a half ago, the Jerusalem Post reported on Monday, citing US and European officials.
Washington and Tehran commenced negotiations in April on a new agreement to replace the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), from which Trump removed the US in 2018.
The talks have not gone very far as the Islamic Republic insists on the right to continue enriching uranium as part of any new nuclear deal – a nonstarter for Trump.
“They have to make a deal, and it’s painful for both parties, but I’d say Iran is not winning this war, and they usually talk, and they should talk immediately, before it’s too late,” Trump said Monday at the G7 summit in Alberta.

President Trump’s subsequent rebuff leaves a few questions on the table.
If not a ceasefire… what DID cause him to rush back to Washington DC?
Whatever it is, it must be ‘big’, as President Trump said so himself.
And why was Macron so sure — or, willing to lie so easily… — about the real purpose of President Trump’s abrupt departure from the G7 summit?
There are more questions than answers as to what President Trump is working on at the moment.
And as I write, I’m seeing at least one report of a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT expected from President Trump soon:
ALERT:
Big announcement expected from Trump.

More questions than answers — but President Trump has me on the edge of my seat, as always!
Whatever pulled him away apparently does involve the Israel-Iran conflict, judging from Karoline Leavitt’s hint at why President Trump left the summit early:
President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State.
— Karoline Leavitt (@PressSec) June 16, 2025
We’ll be sure to bring you the update as to what President Trump is working on, and the details of the ‘big announcement’… if there indeed is one coming.
And if, in the meantime, French President Macron stands in front of a camera to preempt whatever President Trump has to tell the American people…
It might be wise to just tune him out, and let President Trump speak for himself.
Besides — he already has a Press Secretary. And Macron is certainly not her.

[UPDATE 2:45AM CST / 6-17-2025] :
President Trump did reportedly speak to reporters aboard Air Force One after he left Canada earlier today.
According to one report, he emphasized that he currently believes Iran is close to a nuclear weapon:

Here is the full text of that report:
Speaking to reporters earlier onboard Air Force One, after departing the G7 Summit in Canada, U.S. President Trump said that he believes Iran is “very close” to a nuclear weapon, with reporters asking him what he thought about his Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Tulsi Gabbard, stating as recently as last month that Iran was not working on a nuclear weapons, to which he responded, “I don’t care what she said, I think they were very close to having them.”
Jennifer Jacobs, the White House Correspondent for CBS News, corroborated that report.
She also reported on the President’s response to her questions about his call for Tehran to be evacuated, and why exactly he left the summit and returned to the White House:

Here is Jacobs’ full report via her X account after talking with the President aboard Air Force One:
BREAKING: Trump wants “a real end” to the nuclear problem with Iran and this morning will find him in the White House Situation Room, monitoring developments in Middle East, he told us during his midnight departure from Canada.
“I didn’t say I was looking for a ceasefire,” he said on AF1. He said he wants “a real end,” with Iran “giving up entirely” on nukes.
The Israelis aren’t slowing up their barrage on Iran, he predicted. “You’re going to find out over the next two days. You’re going to find out. Nobody’s slowed up so far.”
Asked his thinking on calling for Tehran to evacuate, he told me he wants “people to be safe.”
He needs to be present at the White House, not Canada, where he can be “well versed” and not have to rely on phones to know what’s happening, he said.
Trump sounded undecided about sending Witkoff and/or VP Vance to meet with Iran. “I may,” he said. But “it depends what happens when I get back,” he said.
On any threat to US interests, he said Iran knows not to touch our troops. US would “come down so hard if they do anything to our people,” he said.
Trump declined to say if the chairman of joint chiefs and SecDef have provided him with planning options should Iran attack U.S. bases in Middle East. “I can’t tell you that,” he told me.
Trump told me “we’ll be talking to them” when asked if the Gang of Eight was briefed on anything yet. But “it’s not necessary,” he said.
Asked if US involvement would destroy Iran nuclear program, hope their program “is wiped out long before that.”
While that certainly seems to answer some of the questions regarding why President Trump returned to the White House…
The specifics of exactly what is going on behind the scenes remains undisclosed.
As the French President incorrectly articulated, I would have expected the same — there must be headway on a cease fire deal.
But with President Trump’s poignant rebuke on that front, I’m left to wonder is there potentially something afoot militarily?
Has Iran actually become a nuclear state in spite of the wartime conditions of the past few days?
Or is President Trump simply doubling-down on his promise to keep American forces safe from the possible backlash Iran might send their way, and he wants to be at the ready in case of that eventuality?
Still, I have more questions than answers on what is really going on.
There seems to be something big in the works, with no real clue as to what that may be without a good degree of conjecture.
We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
