President Trump called out former President Barack Obama while addressing the press at the G7 Summit.
In case your unfamiliar with the G7 Summit it is an “annual meeting of the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7), which includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with the European Union as a non-enumerated member.”
Trump called out Obama after noting that the G7 Summit should be the G8.
The 47th President added that Russia should be included, but Obama prevented it from happening.
MSN had the full scoop:
President Donald Trump slammed former President Barack Obama and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for their 2014 “very big mistake” when Russia was removed from the G8 summit, which Trump argued would have prevented further war from breaking out between Russia and Ukraine.
Barack Obama and a person named Trudeau didn’t want to have Russia in,” Trump said Monday from Canada, where the G7 summit is being held, while joined by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
“I would say that that was a mistake because I think you wouldn’t have a war right now if you had Russia. And you wouldn’t have a war right now if Trump were president four years ago,” Trump continued. “But it didn’t work out that way. But it used to be the G8.”
Russia officially was removed from G8 summit meetings in 2014, following Russia’s annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.

President Trump also told the press he wouldn’t mind China joining the G7.
The Hill had these details to report on Trump’s comments on Russia and China:
Trump has made similar comments in the past. Russia was booted from the group in 2014 for illegally annexing Crimea from Ukraine.
Russia in 2022 launched an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. Trump and his administration have pushed for an end to the war, and while Russian and Ukrainian officials have met for direct talks, there has been little progress toward a ceasefire.
Trump spoke Saturday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, one of several talks the two leaders have held since Trump began his second term. Trump is expected to have a meeting while in Canada with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7. Trump has met Zelensky in person twice, once at the White House during a volatile bilateral meeting and another time at the Vatican.
Trump on Monday also signaled an openness to inviting China to be part of the G7 moving forward.
ADVERTISEMENT“I wouldn’t mind that,” Trump said of China’s inclusion. “If someone wants to suggest China.”
Watch him say it here:
President Trump at G7:
President Trump is asked whether or not China should be part of the G7.
PRESIDENT TRUMP: "Well it's not a bad idea. If someone wants to suggest China coming in, I think that's a good idea. But you want to have people that you can talk to."
