REPORT: President Trump Might Save Failing D.C. Waldorf-Astoria!

President Trump is reportedly considering restoring the Waldorf-Astoria in Washington, D.C. to its former glory as the Trump International Hotel!

The Trump International Hotel, located just a few blocks away from the White House, was a huge success since its opening in 2016.

President Trump sold it to Hilton in 2022 — when it became the Waldorf-Astoria.

Since then, the hotel has plummeted.

But, according to a report from The New York Post, that could change, with President Trump weighing his options to save the hotel. This could mean either buying it back or a licensing deal.

Take a look:

From The New York Post:

President-elect Donald Trump is weighing a bid to save the failing Waldorf-Astoria hotel in Washington, DC – and rebrand it once more as a Trump International Hotel, The Post has learned.

Three sources familiar with the situation said that the incoming commander-in-chief’s company, the Trump Organization, is weighing options that include a licensing deal or even possibly buying back the lease on the government-owned, 125-year-old Old Post Office building.

“Our family has saved the hotel once. If asked, we would save it again,” Eric Trump told The Post in an exclusive interview.

The luxury lodge at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. – just a few blocks away from the White House – became a magnet for GOP insiders, DC lobbyists, and fundraisers after Trump opened the hotel in 2016.

Republican operatives spent $266K there in its first six months alone, according to FEC data.

But visitor numbers dropped off once Hilton, which manages the Waldorf brand, took it over and the real estate mogul ended ties with the hotel, according to an insider.

It is still “to be determined” whether the Trump Organization would want to wrestle back full control of the hotel by buying back the lease it sold in 2022 or agree to a licensing deal, the source said.

Sources close to the property said the president-elect is eyeing a possible hospitality investment in the DC area.

Raw Story added:

Just as Donald Trump is set to retake the White House next month, his former Washington D.C. hotel could be resurrected as Trump International Hotel, according to the New York Post.

Trump, who sold his lease two years ago for a reported $375 million, is said to be exploring scenarios that involve the Trump Organization either buying back the lease for the historic hotel — housed in the U.S. Capitol’s Old Post Office, which is owned by the federal government — or a possible licensing deal, sources told the Post.

“Our family has saved the hotel once,” Eric Trump, the company’s executive vice president, told the Post on Friday. “If asked, we would save it again.”

The shuttered Trump International Hotel has since been turned into a Hilton-managed Waldorf-Astoria but is reportedly declining. Trump stirred controversy when he opened the hotel weeks before the 2016 election before it quickly became a gathering place for Republican lobbyists and foreign leaders visiting the president.

I, for one, think that this is a fantastic idea!
