Senior Congressman’s Aide HANDCUFFED in Tense Standoff with Federal Agents

A bizarre event unfolded inside the Congressional offices of Democrat Jerry Nadler.

Following a tip, Homeland Security Officers had to forcibly gain entry to Rep. Nadler’s DC office, with Nadler’s aides attempting to forcibly stop them!

Many on the Left are already saying this is a sign of things to come, because… fascism.

Meanwhile, those who VOTED FOR THIS are excited that this might be a sign of things to come!  (Because… LAW & ORDER!)

The Department of Homeland Security says the Officers responded to the Congressman’s office after some nearby protests got out of hand, and started to seem more like a riot than a protest.

They showed up after a tip said some of the ‘protesters’ had hidden in Nadler’s office.

The exciting parts were caught on camera.  Check out the footage:

I don’t know if the folks in Nadler’s office have ever been to a nation with an oppressive regime in charge… but I can tell you — that’s not what it looks like.

This looks more like federal Officers attempting to do their jobs, and the knee-jerk reaction of the OFFICE STAFF is to RESIST!

That is a crazy thing when you think about it.

Federal officers showed up responding to a tip, to check for potential danger, and the automatic response of the CONGRESSMAN’S STAFF was to resist.

Wow.

I don’t even know if they found anyone or not — presumably not.  But I’m not sure that doesn’t make this WORSE!

That would mean even without the motivation to protect themselves from getting caught for something they were doing to get in trouble — their FIRST reaction was STILL to resist the Officers!

I remember in the immediate few weeks after President Trump was elected, when news anchors and “activists” kept making stupid decisions because they simply weren’t used to getting called on it.

Those ‘few weeks’ have now stretched in to months, and rather than the Left taking that time to wrap their minds around the changes — they’ve doubled down, instead!  (I have a phrase going through my mind right now; starts with “F” and ends in “find out”.)

Rep. Nadler has come out swinging, trying to paint this is a break from “proper legal boundaries”, according to CBS News:

New York Rep. Jerry Nadler says a member of his staff was handcuffed by a Department of Homeland Security agent at his congressional office Wednesday.

The incident was caught on video.

According to a DHS spokesperson, Federal Protective Service officers were responding to reports that protesters were inside Nadler’s district office in Manhattan.

In a statement released Saturday, Nadler said the DHS agents “forcefully” entered his office and handcuffed a member of his staff.

“The decision to enter a Congressional office and detain a staff member demonstrates a deeply troubling disregard for proper legal boundaries. If this can happen in a Member of Congress’s office, it can happen to anyone–and it is happening,” Nadler said, in part.

There is one key element to this story that was brought to my attention by Mila Joy on her X account.

And this might give us a hint as to what is happening behind the scenes:

Ah — so it sounds as though there may already be the working assumption on the part of Homeland Security and ICE that Nadler’s office has been operating as an outpost of sorts.

I don’t know if that’s true, but it’s definitely plausible that his office’s proximity to the immigration court house gave them the bright idea to intervene whenever they saw Agents attempting to roll up an illegal, either before or after immigration hearings.

Definitely something to watch going forward.

In fact, Rep. Nadler came out with a statement on his X account that may play in to that scenario!

Check this out:

Here’s the full text of Nadler’s post:

A 20-year-old asylum-seeking student with no criminal record came here legally and followed every step of the legal process. ICE waited for him outside his court hearing and detained him anyway.

The Trump administration’s actions are shameful. They undermine our immigration laws and do nothing to make our country safer.

That case isn’t directly related to yesterday’s events, at least not that I can tell.

But it does tell me how closely Rep. Nadler and his staff are monitoring the events taking place in the immigration courthouse.

And again I ask the question — why was Rep. Nadler’s staff so quick to resist the Officers, if they hadn’t done anything that would get them in trouble?

Eventually the standoff turned in to compliance, but not until one of the aides was in cuffs (you can hear her sniffling as she’s being cuffed in that earlier video).

There were ultimately no arrests.

But the more details I read, the more I suspect something more was going on.

I highly doubt the Officers responded with that much intention unless they knew beforehand that the people they were looking for were actually there.

That makes me wonder if this is another case of activist Officials helping the illegals escape through the backdoor, just like the judge that wound up facing charges for exactly that.

Here are more details of the ‘standoff’ in Nadler’s offices as reported by the New York Post:

Longtime Democratic Rep. Jerrold Nadler slammed President Trump for “sowing chaos” nationwide after federal agents handcuffed one of his aides inside his lower Manhattan office.

“President Trump and the Department of Homeland Security are sowing chaos in our communities, using intimidating tactics against both citizens and non-citizens in a reckless and dangerous manner,” he said in a statement to Politico.

The video, obtained by Gothamist, showed one agent aggressively restraining a teary-eyed female staffer, while another employee asked for a warrant and blocked a second officer from entering a private section of the congressional office, located in the same Varick Street building as federal immigration court.

Federal Protective Service officers went to the congressman’s office to conduct a security check after receiving reports that protesters were hiding inside, DHS told The Post in a statement.

“Based on earlier incidents in a nearby facility, FPS officers were concerned about the safety of the federal employees in the office and went to the location to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those present,” Homeland Security officials said.

When they arrived, one individual – the woman who was briefly detained – was “verbally confrontational and physically blocked access to the office” after the officers identified themselves and explained why there were there.

“The officers then detained the individual in the hallway for the purpose of completing the security check,” DHS said.

The aide was released after the fiery standoff — which reportedly erupted when a Nadler staffer invited two advocates monitoring ICE activity at the courthouse into the office. (Emphasis added.)

Did you catch that last sentence?

According to the New York Post, there was some type of collusion between Nadler’s Office staff and those monitoring ICE at the courthouse — presumably to stay one step ahead of ICE!

It sounds like Rep. Nadler is walking a dangerous line; the sort that Tom Homan has warned others about.

It could very easily have been HIM in cuffs yesterday if this would have played out just a little differently.

ICE actually just shared a story a short time ago on their X account that addresses that issue, in which Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons is being interviewed by Fox News.

Is he sending a signal to Nadler et al? — I’d say so.  Watch this:

Is it just coincidence that ICE shared THAT STORY today, after yesterday’s confrontation in a sitting Congressman’s office?

I don’t think so.

I think the Trump Administration is warning Congress that they are serious about arresting those who break the law by trying to thwart ICE operations and helping illegals.

Even Congressman Nadler’s comments since the incident are inflammatory!

Check out what he said as related in the previous mentioned New York Post article:

Nadler charged that the Trump administration is embracing totalitarian and authoritarian tactics.

“The Trump administration is trying to intimidate members of Congress,” Nadler told the New York Times Saturday.

“They’re behaving like fascists. We have to fight them. We don’t want to be a fascist country.”

Even without the “totalitarian and authoritarian” language, Nadler’s comments are clear.

He flat-out said that people should be FIGHTING the Trump Administration — for executing the law!

I’m convinced that sooner or later we’re going to see some high-ranking Congressman in handcuffs exactly because someone takes them at their word.

Or else, one of these members of Congress is going to actually get CAUGHT hiding illegals from ICE — as I suspect nearly happened yesterday.

If that occurs, it won’t end like it did yesterday with de-escalation, a completed security check, and everyone goes on their merry way.

We’ll get to see a Congressman walked to a patrol vehicle and taken in to custody.

I’ll say it again, and this probably isn’t the last time I’ll utter these words:

I voted for this.
