Watch: Mayor Adams Fact-Checks CNN Host For Suggesting Mamdani Isn’t ‘Pro-Hamas’

The New York City mayoral race continues to become more heated.

Incumbent Democratic Mayor Eric Adams is expected to run as an independent against Zohran Mamdani, a far-left socialist candidate who recently came out on top in the Democratic primary race.

During a recent CNN interview, Adams continued his very public critique of Mamdani’s policy proposals and history of incendiary rhetoric.

At one point, host Jake Tapper pushed back against the mayor’s characterization of Mamdani as “pro-Hamas,” but as the Daily Caller reported, Adams brought the receipts:

“When did he praise Hamas?” Tapper asked. “I don’t recall him ever praising Hamas.”

Before running for mayor, Mamdani reportedly pursued a rap career under the names “Mr. Cardamom” and “Young Cardamom,” according to Fox News.

In a 2017 track, Mamdani says “My love to the Holy Land Five. You better look ’em up,” appearing to reference five leaders of the Holy Land Foundation convicted of funneling over $12 million to Hamas. The rap video was resurfaced by antisemitism watchdog Canary Mission, which said on X that the song also included a call to tear down the U.S. southern border wall.

“There’s several videos, even during his days of being a rap artist, of praising Hamas and other terrorist groups. So, a little research, you’ll be able to find it. But I’m not competing against him only for what he’s done in praising Hamas,” Adams said. “I’m competing against him because this is not a socialist city. And that much of what he’s promising the people, which I think is really deplorable.”

Mamdani’s rap lyrics have become one of several controversies surrounding his mayoral bid:

Here’s the full text of Rep. Ogles’ post from above:

LISTEN: Zohran “Little muhammad” Mamdani dropped this rap just a year before becoming a U.S. citizen.

In it, he says he “loves” five men who were convicted of funneling $12 million to Hamas terrorists through the Holy Land Foundation. He also raps, “Build the wall—we’ll make it fall.”

This public embrace of convicted Hamas conspirators before naturalization raises serious questions: Did Mamdani disclose these views during his naturalization interview? Did he lie on his N-400 citizenship application?

If someone lies during the naturalization process—especially about support for terrorists—they should be denaturalized and deported.

Mamdani was even compelled to watch a clip of his own 2019 music video during a recent interview, which also happened to be on CNN.

But as the New York Post reported, host Erin Burnett allowed him to worm his way out of answering any tough questions about the lyrics:

The Queens assemblyman grimaced and flinched as the video began to play — attempting to laugh off the reminder of his blush-inducing attempt at a music career.

“Once you do it, it’s out there,” Burnett said to Mamdani.

“It’s there. Didn’t think it was going to be on CNN,” Mamdani said through a wincing smile.

Burnett then pressed Mamdani, offering him a chance to respond to critics who suggest he is “not ready now” to be mayor of the Big Apple.

“I would say a campaign offers a glimpse into what an administration would look like, and we built a campaign the likes of which the city has not seen in a long time,” Mamdani replied, eliding Mr. Cardamom’s performance entirely.
