Will Florida Become The Next State To Ban Weather Modification?

The Tampa Bay Young Republicans issued a statement calling on the Florida Legislature to ban weather modification.

The local GOP group stated these key points:

  • “Ban weather modification projects in the State of Florida.”
  • “Hold private companies and government bodies legally liable for adverse health effects of weather modification projects.”
  • “Create a regulatory framework allowing for public transparency of any federal or military weather modification projects taking place within the State of Florida or our shores before they occur.”
  • “The TBYR is officially calling on the FL Legislature to Ban Weather Modification during it's next session. If you're interested, please contact your State Rep or Senator and ask that they support such a bill,” the Tampa Bay Young Republicans stated.

    TBYR listed these bill considerations:

  • WHEREAS, We call for the prohibition of hazardous activities related to weather modification. Including, but not limited to, Cloud seeding, solar radiation modification (SRM), stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI), Hurricane and tropical cyclone alteration, Electromagnetic weather modification, Ionospheric Heating, and mosquito control intended aerial insecticides. States like Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Illinois have enacted laws explicitly prohibiting harmful weather modification activities, including cloud seeding and solar radiation management, to prevent environmental degradation and protect public welfare (Zero Geoengineering) (trackbill.com) (Tennessee Conservative) (Electromagnetic Weather Modification) (Ionospheric Heating: HAARP)
  • WHEREAS, There is comprehensive regulation on weather modification: Many states, such as Texas, California, and North Dakota, have established comprehensive regulatory frameworks that require licensing and permits for weather modification activities to ensure environmental safety and public health (Zero Geoengineering) (Zero Geoengineering) (Tennessee Conservative) (LegiScan).
  • WHEREAS, the legal accountability of both private enterprises and governmental bodies engaging in the contamination of public environments and shared spaces is mandated.
  • WHEREAS, we have a history of injecting dangerous chemicals into our atmosphere to alter hurricanes and tropical cyclones. (Project Stormfury)
  • Florida's Voice reports:

The club also pointed to several states such as Texas, California and North Dakota who have “comprehensive” regulatory frameworks that require licensing and permits for weather modification activities to “ensure environmental safety and public health.”

The group argued that chemicals used in weather modification have proven to result in health consequences for the communities they’re in. The contamination occurs in the air, on farms and in water supplies.

It also pointed out how weather experiments “often backfire,” resulting in secondary, unnatural weather patters.

The Florida Young Republicans helped introduce several conservative pieces of legislation in the 2023 Legislative Session. The bills included one signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis requiring the teaching of accurate communism’s history in public schools.

Last month, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed legislation that “prohibits the intentional injection, release, or dispersion, by any means, of chemicals, chemical compounds, substances, or apparatus within the borders of this state into the atmosphere with the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight.”
