President Joe Biden praised his vice president, Kamala Harris, for being a "major player" in all of their administration's actions, saying they were "singing from the same song sheet."
"We're singing from the same song sheet. She helped pass all the laws that are being employed now. She was a major player in everything we've done," Biden said in a surprise appearance in the White House briefing room on Friday. "Her staff is interlocked with mine in terms of all the things we’re doing."
Since replacing her boss at the top of the presidential ticket, Harris has worked to distance herself from the failures of the Biden administration—as 65 percent of voters believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. She has endeavored to present herself as the "candidate of change."
Biden and his allies, however, have repeatedly reminded voters that Harris has been his partner in crime for the past three and a half years.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in August that Harris's policy aims are "aligned" with Biden, stating, "There's not been any daylight" between the pair’s decisions. "She has been a critical partner for this president during this term," Jean-Pierre said.
Former Biden domestic policy adviser Susan Rice also said over the summer that the vice president is an "integral architect" of the Biden-Harris agenda.
"This has been the Biden-Harris agenda. Kamala Harris has been an integral architect and executor of the policies of the Biden-Harris administration," Rice said.
