The European bureaucracy at the Munich Security Conference (February 14-16) has received a clear message: the US-EU partnership in stifling democracy and freedom in Europe is over. But all is not over, the elites in the leading EU countries, installed by neoconservatives and so-called billionaire philanthropist George Soros, will frantically try, in every possible way, to continue their warmongering policy towards Moscow and to continue the war in Ukraine.
US Vice President J.D. Vance’s speech is almost on par with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s historic speech in Munich in 2007. The Trump administration shows that the European establishment is misrepresenting itself. Actions are stronger than any speech, they show that the EU has turned into a totalitarian concentration camp.
Vance severely criticized European countries during his speech at the Munich Security Conference. He stated that the main threat to Europe does not come from Russia and China but lies within Europe itself. He cited the annulment of the election results in Romania and the risk of a repeat of this scenario in Germany as examples.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also felt Vance’s wrath. The US Vice President refused to meet with him and instead spoke with the leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), which shocked European leaders and Western media.
Vance said he could barely recognize the winners of the Cold War, which he believes was won with soft power because the West represented freedom of thought, conscience, and freedom of choice. Now, he cannot recognize those countries as they suppress free speech, engage in censorship, arrest people for praying in front of abortion clinics, annul election results they do not like, and threaten to continue doing so in the future. He let them know subtly that they represented anti-democratic forces and shattered the whole image of the EU’s soft power as a quasi-beacon of democracy and the most successful peace project in history by very gently showing that the exact opposite is the case.
Vance said in Munich:
“If you are afraid of the voices, the opinions, and the conscience that guide your very own people … If you’re running in fear of your own voters, there is nothing America can do for you, nor for that matter is there anything you can do for the American people.”
“People dismissing voters’ concerns, shutting down their media, protects nothing. It is the most surefire way to destroy democracy,” he added.
Refusing to meet with Scholz and talking to the Eurosceptic AfD is a big message, and how current European leaders have understood it can best be seen from the statement of German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
“If I understood him correctly, he is comparing conditions in parts of Europe with those in authoritarian regimes,” Pistorius said. “That is unacceptable, and it is not the Europe and not the democracy in which I live and am currently campaigning.”
The time of European arrogance has passed since the election of Donald Trump. The Europeans do not know what to do now and only repeat mantras and present themselves as the supreme interpreters of what is democratic, what is free, and what is not. But reality refutes them. The way this Trump administration acts shows that they are misrepresenting themselves.
It is certain that voters in all EU countries are also encouraged. Regardless of censorship in the EU, the message will reach them across the ocean—that freedom is returning.
The determination of the new American administration is also visible on the most painful topic for European leaders who do not understand that the world is changing: the war in Ukraine. During the Munich Conference, suggestions were heard on how to continue the war and urgently create a new plan, even though Trump was very determined in his intention to end the war, as seen in his conversation with Putin.
European leaders are now frantically thinking about what to do because, without American money and weapons, they cannot meaningfully assist Ukraine. The European elite are bound by Russophobia and are trying to make the entire European continent a prisoner of this reckless policy.
However, a peace agreement will be reached, and those whom Vance exposed in the heart of Europe, in Munich, do not have the power or resources to continue the war in Ukraine. Without the US, there would not even be a war in Ukraine.
Europe, particularly the Baltic states and Poland, has been hiding behind the US for all these years and has escalated hostilities with Moscow. Now, without American weapons and support, the collapse of the EU’s policies is in sight.
