Sweden’s 19th Aid Package for Ukraine: Sweden Will Eventually Become a Third World Country

The previous 18 aid packages don’t seem to have helped Ukraine in its war against the – deceptively ‘full-scale’ – Russian invasion. But now! – says intellectual high jumper, Minister of Armament Pål Jonson, that the 19th package will do the trick… or begin to… or…

You can read about this on the Swedish Government Offices’ website on 31 March 2025:

“The largest aid package to Ukraine to date raises Swedish support for 2025 to SEK 29.5 billion. With a value of almost SEK 16 billion, the Government presents the largest military support package to Ukraine to date. Ukraine has requested capabilities linked to air defence, artillery, satellite communications and naval capabilities. Together with the support package presented earlier this year, Swedish military support to Ukraine amounts to approximately SEK 29.5 billion for 2025. The total Swedish military support since 2022 thus amounts to approximately SEK 80 billion.”

80 billion – roughly US$ 8 billion – and even more in the future, straight into the black hole of militarism! To no benefit for anyone other than MIMAK – the Military-Industrial-Media-Academic Complex.

And to the detriment of the entire civilian Swedish society.

Sweden will – with NATO membership, the 17 US bases and this repeated counterproductive Ukraine support (when will Aid Package 50 come?) against any kind of peaceful solution – militarise itself into poverty.

And that while China and many others are undergoing amazing, rapid development and becoming welfare states, they are cooperating and creating a better future for humanity.

Sweden’s Kristersson government seems to welcome future generations to a Sweden with third-world status in the multipolar world of the future. (Together with other EU/NATO countries).

No one can spell the word ‘peace’. It is taboo in today’s Swedish media, politics and research.

Sweden is no longer a democracy, it’s a kakistocracy. Only a kakistocrat believes that Swedes will be safer by arming Ukraine instead of working for a new security order in Europe and peaceful coexistence in Ukraine.

The people have never had a say in this headless militarism at the expense of future generations. Who will pay for this insane policy – and when?

How much better could Sweden and the world have been if these funds had been spent on civilian development and Sweden had promoted a negotiated settlement, which it could have done as a neutral but not as a NATO member.

The Sweden that once led the way in the fight for peace, common security, the UN, international law, disarmament and a secure Europe – and was led by intellectually capable people – no longer exists.

Despairing. Militarism kills even in peacetime.
