His sentence will be cut by four months.
Those in charge of Robinson's account on X wrote, "We're happy to announce, Tommy Robinson will be freed from prison within the week, and coming home to his children. Thank you all for the continued support, it's kept him going in the darkest days."
Robinson was jailed in October after he released a documentary that covers the actions of Jamal Hijazi, who has been accused of physically threatening female students in his class after a 2018 scrap between him and a white student turned into an international news story, as well as a legal battle between Robinson and Hijazi. The white student poured water over the head of Hijazi, who was then painted as a victim of racism in media around the world.
Robinson dug into incident, and alleged that the Syrian boy was physically threatening female students, misbehaved frequently, and had other accusations against him. Robinson provided multiple interviews of staff at the school as well as other evidence for the accusations in the documentary and in other reports.
However, the Syrian boy successfully sued Robinson for libel in 2021, and Robinson was ordered to pay damages and not publicly release the documentary. Despite an order from the UK courts to not to publicly release the documentary, Robinson did anyway at a rally in Trafalgar Square over the summer, which led to him being detained and put in prison.
He was due to be released on July 26, according to the Jerusalem Post. Robinson has gained support from Elon Musk as well as multiple other conservative political figures in America, who have been pushing for his early release.
