US Green Party nominee Dr. Jill Stein was urged by a coalition of EU Green parties to drop out of the race for president and support Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris instead. Citing former President Donald Trump's "anti-democratic, authoritarian policies" on immigration, abortion, and LGBTQ rights, Green parties from 16 European nations - including Germany, Ireland, Spain, and France - released a statement on Friday, urging Stein to withdraw.

"The stakes of these elections could not be higher," the statement read. "We are clear that Kamala Harris is the only candidate who can block Donald Trump and his anti-democratic, authoritarian policies from the White House...Right now, the race for the White House is too close for comfort. We call on Jill Stein to withdraw from the race, and endorse Kamala Harris for the presidency of the United States."

The request comes on the backs of a recent campaign appearance in battleground Pennsylvania where Stein disputed claims that she would be stealing votes from the Democratic candidate, saying, "The votes of the opponents to genocide are not being taken from Kamala Harris. She already lost them."
 

This election cycle marks Dr. Stein's third run for president, where she is running on a platform of "peace and environmental action and the Green New Deal." Recent polls show that Stein has no path to victory on Nov. 5, polling at two percent nationally. Analysts say that Stein's bid is stealing votes from Harris, but data shows that her campaign has also stolen votes from Trump.

Dr. Stein has not yet responded to the EU Green's statement.
