On Thursday, the Israeli government confirmed the death of a father who was believed to be a Hamas hostage. It turns out he had been killed by Hamas during the Oct. 7 massacre.

The Palestinian terror group transported the dead body of Dror Or, 49, into Gaza after killing his wife in their Kibbutz village and taking two of their children hostage, the Israeli government said.

The couple's two children were released by Hamas as part of a ceasefire deal, officials said.

"We are heartbroken to share that Dror Or who was kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, had been confirmed as murdered and his body is being held in Gaza," Israel wrote on X.

Approximately 250 individuals, including 33 Americans, were kidnapped during the Hamas attack, which claimed the lives of an estimated 1,200 others, the New York Post reports.

His wife, Yonat Or, is believed to have been fatally shot by Hamas on Oct. 7 in Kibbutz Be'eri.

Two of the couple's three children, Noam, 17, and Alma, 13, were kidnapped by Hamas and held hostage in Gaza until their release in November as a condition of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian terror group.

The US and many other Western countries have labeled Hamas, the group that rules the Gaza Strip, as a terrorist organization.

Experts from the UN came to the conclusion that during the attack, Hamas terrorists committed gang rape and other forms of sexual violence.

According to Israeli estimates, there are still 129 hostages in Gaza, 35 of them are dead.

It's unclear how the Israeli government learned about Or's death.
