JACK POSOBIEC: Amazon just declared war on Trump and lost

"Amazon has completely caved on this tariff pricing policy right after the White House came out and said that these were hostile tactics."

Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec slammed Amazon’s now-scrapped plan to display tariff costs alongside product prices, slamming the move as a direct attack on President Trump and his trade agenda. During Tuesday’s episode, Posobiec also contrasted Amazon’s stance with Walmart’s newly announced pro-American manufacturing initiative.

“I saw a lot of people saying earlier today that this was a huge deal,” Posobiec said, “where Amazon had come up and said they’re going to be putting this tariff price right next to the items on Amazon, which would have been an absolute declaration of war on President Trump and on the White House.”

Amazon had reportedly been exploring a policy that would show Amazon Haul buyers how much of a product’s price increase was attributable the the Trump tariffs. According to the initial report from Punchbowl News, the idea was to make clear to consumers that they, not foreign exporters, were bearing the brunt of the tariff hikes.

The White House immediately pushed back, calling the plan “a hostile and political act.” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated she had already spoken to President Trump about the development, asking why Amazon hadn’t implemented a similar feature during the Biden years, when Americans faced record inflation. She further noted Amazon’s ties to Chinese entities, referencing recent reporting that the company had partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm.

Following the backlash, Amazon issued a clarification. A spokesperson told the Washington Post that the pricing policy had only been considered for its budget-focused “Amazon Haul” storefront—not the main site—and that nothing had been implemented. “This was never a consideration for the main Amazon site and nothing has been implemented on any Amazon properties,” the company said.

Posobiec celebrated Amazon’s decision. “Amazon has completely caved on this tariff pricing policy right after the White House came out and said that these were hostile tactics. So, a complete cave by Jeff Bezos and just an absolute ‘W’ for President Trump.”

“I get it, people want to see—people say they want to know how much of this is made in the USA, what’s made in China… but at the end of the day, people think with their wallets, people act with their wallets. They say, ‘you know what, I get it, I get that this stuff is probably better for the economy and jobs’ but at the end of the day, people are going to go for what’s cheaper. It’s why Walmart and Amazon are popular.”

While criticizing Amazon, Posobiec praised Walmart for taking the opposite approach. The retail giant announced this week the launch of its “Grow with US” initiative, which aims to bolster small American businesses by giving them greater access to Walmart’s ecommerce platform. The company says the effort builds on the legacy of founder Sam Walton and is intended to give homegrown products a bigger presence in retail.

“I do have to admit, that one thing that’s interesting is that we saw from Walmart quite an opposite take,” Posobiec said. “Walmart has said that they are going to be introducing a new initiative called Grow With U.S., this is really building on that legacy of Sam Walton four years ago of small businesses. I know that, of course, Walmart isn’t exactly known as a small business, but it is in fact something that’s really big for everything that’s going on on that.”
