"They want your sons and daughters to die in the name of democracy. But in truth, it's really in the name of profit."
Ukraine claimed that Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) into Dnipro, which would have marked the first time an ICBM was used in combat ever. However the Kremlin refuted this claim, stating that Russia struck Ukraine with a new intermediate-range missile.
Russian president Vladimir Putin said that this attack was a response to the Ukrainian strikes in Russia with missiles provided by the US and the UK earlier in the week. Putin warned that Russia could use the intermediate-range missiles against these countries, but noted he would issue an advanced warning ahead of a retaliatory attack to allow civilians to evacuate, the AP reports. Putin also warned that American air defense systems would be incapable of intercepting these missiles.
Although Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a missile used in the Thursday attack “matches the speed and altitude” of an ICBM, US officials confirmed that Russia's strike against Ukraine was carried out with intermediate-range ballistic missiles after an initial assessment.
Posobiec, a former Navy intelligence officer, reported that US officials had initially believed the missiles being used were experimental and that they hadn't conducted any operational capability testing. "Obviously, that was not true, because this thing works, and it was a message. Was a message for the United States," he said.
He later provided his take on why the current administration is so intent on escalating the Russia-Ukraine war. "They want your sons and daughters to die in the name of democracy. But in truth, it's really in the name of profit. It's what it's all about. It's about profit," he said.
The host had earlier appeared on Stephen K Bannon's War Room, stating that while the missiles used were not ICBMs, they still are "clearly a threat."
"We need President Trump there immediately," Posobiec stated. "I would love to see a special envoy that's put over for the Ukraine war. You don't need an ambassador. You don't need a secretary. You need someone who's living and breathing this 24/7 that's Trump's man, and his physical presence there will actually serve to calm things down."
Bannon had said that the current Biden-Harris administration and the UK allowed Ukraine to strike Russia with US and British missiles in the first place "to get Russia to respond with a massive provocation, thereby denying President Trump the capacity and the parameters for a peace deal to take place."
