Man arrested after attack on women’s rights advocate Kellie-Jay Keen during UK event

Keen explained on social media that the substance thrown on her was tomato soup.

A man was arrested in Sheffield, UK, after attacking women’s rights advocate Kellie-Jay Keen during her "Let Women Speak" event, which provides a platform for women to voice concerns about gender ideology. Keen, known for her outspoken views on transgender-identifying individuals and her opposition to institutions allowing them in women’s spaces, was hosting the event when the incident occurred.

In a video circulating on social media, Lindsay is seen fleeing the scene as supporters chased him, with one person shouting, "He just attacked a lady and chucked milk over her head." He was later apprehended by police, handcuffed, and arrested. As the suspect was escorted away from the event by police, attendees were heard in another video ridiculing him, asking, “Do you like picking on women?”

South Yorkshire Police released a statement after the event, saying that 34-year-old Ben Lindsay of Fitzwilliam Street, Barnsley, was arrested during the demonstration. He was charged with two counts of assault by beating and released on conditional bail. Users on social media identified Linsday as the culprit behind the attack on Keen.

Keen, who had been live-streaming the event, appeared on camera with her hair wet and pushed back. She later clarified on social media that the substance thrown at her was tomato soup. This is not the first time Keen has faced such an attack; in 2023, she was attacked during an event in New Zealand when a protester poured tomato juice on her and struck another attendee.

This is the second attack on women who have voiced criticisms of gender ideology in the last week. According to Reduxx, a transgender activist in France deployed an explosive device that sabotaged a venue hosting a conference that addressed the harms of gender ideology.
