'That's one way to become a celebrity': 13-year-old girl faces trial after allegedly stabbing 2 teachers, 1 student

"I suppose things like this don't happen very often. Are they dead? I'm pretty sure this is going to be on the news so more eyes will be looking at me."

A 13-year-old girl stabbed 2 teachers and a classmate with a fishing knife she smuggled into school before telling police "That's one way to become a celebrity," a UK court heard on Monday. Those she stabbed were injured but are recovering.

The student, who cannot be named due to her age, allegedly had the intent of killing assistant head teacher Fiona Elias, 48, of Amman Valley School in Wales, and told her "I'm going to f*cking kill you" before stabbing her and special needs teacher Liz Hopkin, 53, who tried to intervene, the Daily Mail reports. She then reportedly ran over to another schoolgirl and stabbed her. The incident took place during a morning break outside on April 24.

The girl had been subjected to daily searches by her father and the school after she previously tried to sneak a knife into the school, however she was able to conceal the fishing knife until the incident happened.

Prosecutor William Hughes KC showed the court CCTV footage of the girl "with sinister eyes" carrying out the vicious attack. He stated "At about 11:15 am, during mid morning break, there was a serious episode of violence at the school. Mrs. Elias said she was not happy with the way the girl was looking at her and asked what she had in her pocket. The girl replied: 'Do you want to see?' and pulled out the knife, a fishing multi-tool owned by her father."

Elias was stabbed in her arms while Hopkin was stabbed in her neck, back, legs, and arms. Hughes continued: "Those stab wounds were inflicted deliberately with an intent to kill Mrs Elias. She was repeatedly saying: 'I'm going to f*cking kill you,' as she attacked Mrs Elias. Mrs Hopkin intervened and did her utmost to take hold of her and stop her. She was also stabbed a number of times and received very serious injuries including wounds to her neck, back, legs and arms."

The girl was eventually disarmed by 2 male teachers who detained her until police arrived. The 3 victims were taken to a local hospital and treated for serious stab wounds. Hughes told the court that while the girl was "In the rear of a police car she made a number of significant comments. Among them she said: 'I suppose things like this don't happen very often. Are they dead? I'm pretty sure this is going to be on the news so more eyes will be looking at me. That's one way to be a celebrity'."

She reportedly asked police if they knew the schoolgirl she attacked before stating "I stabbed her, oopsies." She had denied 3 charges of attempted murder but has admitted to 3 charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing a bladed article.
