A UK Labour councillor who was caught on video telling a London crowd that anti-mass immigration protesters need to have their throats cut has been arrested. Ricky Jones was initially suspended from his position and on Thursday was charged with suspicion of encouraging murder, The Independent reports.

The video, which was quickly circulated online, Jones could be seen speaking at a rally and reportedly saying: "They are disgusting Nazi fascists and we need to cut all their throats and get rid of all of them." He followed the statement by leading the crowd in a "free, free Palestine" chant.

An initial statement from Metropolitan Police read: "Officers have arrested a man aged in his 50s at an address in south-east London. He was held on suspicion of encouraging murder and for an offence under the Public Order Act. He is in custody at a south London police station."

Conservative leader of the Reform UK party, Nigel Farage responded on X, "This man should be arrested. If not, we know there is two-tier policing."

A Labour spokesperson said of the incident: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and it will not be tolerated."

The rally he was seen at was organized in counter-protest of the anti-mass immigration protests that have swept the country in the past few weeks.
