"Ukraine is determined to do everything to end this war with a just and lasting peace as soon as possible."
“We discussed our joint steps that could bring us closer to peace and accelerate diplomatic efforts. I’m grateful for the support. Ukraine is determined to do everything to end this war with a just and lasting peace as soon as possible,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky also confirmed that he will travel to Saudi Arabia next week, where he is scheduled to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday. Following this meeting, further discussions between Ukrainian and US officials will take place in the country.
“On our side, we are fully committed to constructive dialogue, and we hope to discuss and agree on the necessary decisions and steps,” Zelensky said. “Ukraine has been seeking peace from the very first second of this war. Realistic proposals are on the table. The key is to move quickly and effectively.”
According to The Telegraph, Zelensky will not be attending the high-level talks between Ukrainian and US negotiators. This comes as President Donald Trump has increased pressure on Ukraine to engage in peace negotiations with Russia. The US recently froze aid to Ukraine and suspended intelligence sharing following a heated meeting between Trump and Zelensky at the White House last week.
Meanwhile, Zelensky continues to engage with other international leaders, particularly with the UK. He recently met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who reaffirmed Britain’s support for Ukraine. Starmer assured Zelensky that he has the “full backing across the United Kingdom” and agreed to a $2.8 billion loan to assist Ukraine.
