Astronauts who returned from space after nine months will visit the White House

The two NASA astronauts who spent nine unplanned months in space with visit the White House after the recover from their journey, President Trump says.

Wilmore, 62, and Williams, 59, came back to Earth 278 days behind schedule on Elon Musk's SpaceX capsule after being stranded in space last June when it was discovered that a Boeing return craft had defects.

“Number one, they have to get better,” Trump said during the interview. You know, when you’re up there and you have no pull in your muscle, you have no gravity, you can lift 1,000 pounds like this," he said. "They have to get better. It’s going to be a little bit tough for them. It’s not easy. They were up there a long time, and when they do, they’ll come to the Oval Office."

Musk previously criticized Joe Biden's administration, claiming they abandoned Wilmore and Williams in outer space because it would not be politically advantageous for them in the 2024 election.

"We offered to bring them back early. This offer was rejected by the Biden administration," he told Joe Rogan on his podcast. "There's no way that they're gonna make anyone who supports Trump look good."

Musk also told Rogan that the former administration pushed returning of the astronauts after the inauguration day if Democrats had won the election last year.
