At least 16 people are dead and dozens have been injured as severe weather, including tornadoes, hit Missouri and Kentucky.

Video footage showed a tornado hitting St. Louis and causing damage.

Officials said about 5,000 homes were impacted by the severe weather in the area.

Local news reported that "North St. Louis was struck by widespread damage and destruction, with multiple buildings collapsed and power lines strewn across roadways."

Fox Weather reported that the hardest hit Kentucky towns by "apparent large tornadoes on Friday night were the Somerset area and London, where city officials reported significant damage."
