Former President Joe Biden, in his first speech since leaving office, said the Trump administration has caused "so much damage and so much destruction" in President Donald Trump's second term. 

Biden made these remarks Tuesday at a speech in Chicago where he addressed the Advocates, Counselors and Representatives for the Disabled.

The conference was about strengthening and maximizing Social Security.

“They’ve taken a hatchet to the Social Security Administration,” Biden said, referencing the administration, according to The Hill newspaper. “Seven-thousand employees – 7,000 – out the door in that time, including the most seasoned officials. … Already we can see the effects.”

Biden touted his own success when it came to Social Security and criticized Republicans in Congress, saying they were "taking aim" at the federal government's retirement fund for Americans. 

"They’re following that old line from tech startups," Biden said. "The quote is, ‘Move fast, break things.’ They’re certainly breaking things. They’re shooting first and aiming later."
