President Joe Biden said that presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump's "shouting" distracted him during the first presidential debate, despite there not being evidence that occurred. 

ABC News host George Stephanopoulos asked Biden in an interview that aired Friday evening when he knew that his debate performance was not at its best. 

"Well, it came to me. I was having a bad night when I realized that even when I was answering the question, even though they turned his mic off, he was still shouting," Biden answered, referencing Trump, according to Fox News.

"And I let it distract me," he continued. "But I'm not blaming it on that, but I realized that I just wasn't in control." 

Trump was seen and heard speaking at times when his mic was off during the debate, but not ever shouting at Biden, according to the outlet. 

Biden and Trump squared off in the first presidential debate last week which resulted in several Democratic leaders calling on Biden to suspend his campaign due to his poor performance. 

However, the White House insisted Biden would be staying in the race. 

Biden was also asked by Stephanopoulos about his raspy voice and losing his train of thought during the televised event.
