A Brazilian Supreme Court panel on Monday unanimously decided to upheld a previous ruling from one of its judges to block the social media platform X nationwide.

X owner Elon Musk criticized Justice Alexandre de Moraes for his ruling, describing it as an authoritarian move.

The panel that upheld the decision included five of the 11 justices on the Supreme Court, including de Moraes.

The ban stems from X not designating a local legal representative. 

According to the ruling, the ban will stay in place until X names a representative and pays outstanding fines, which are in excess of $3 million to date.
