Daily Beast editor-in-chief replaced, publisher announces

The Daily Beast has a new editor in chief, its publisher announced on Tuesday.

Hugh Dougherty, a deputy editor at the New York Post, will replace Tracy Connor, who is leaving the news company after leading the website since 2021.

Publisher Ben Sherwood made the announcement in a note to staff.

Sherwood said that the new editor-in-chief signals “the start of our transformation of the newsroom and underlying business as we confront the realities of the moment and confront the opportunities ahead."
