Democratic-led Senate voting Wednesday on advancing Right to Contraception Act

The Democratic-led Senate is scheduled to vote on the Right to Contraception Act on Wednesday ahead of the second anniversary of the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe. v. Wade.

The bill would "guarantee the right for people to obtain and use contraceptives and for health providers to prescribe contraceptives, and give information related to contraception, free from government interference," according to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's office.

Schumer argued on the Senate floor that "supporting federal protections for contraceptives should be definition of simple and commonsense and easy to choose."

A vote on legislation related to a nationwide right to IVF could also come "very soon," Schumer said.

Senate Democrats unveiled an IVF legislative package on Monday.
