Rep. Gabe Vasquez, D-N.M., made harassing phone calls for a former colleague in 2004 and used a racial slur, according to a police report obtained by The Washington Free Beacon.
Vasquez, a progressive lawmaker who supports the Black Lives Matter movement, was a college student at the time of the incident.
The Free Beacon wrote in its report about the harassing calls that it "obtained the police report through a public records request with the city of Las Cruces seeking documents that included Vasquez's name and date of birth."
According to the police report, the Human Resources coordinator for the company said Vasquez was terminated for "falsifying data." She answered the phone and the person who called, which the Free Beacon report said was Vasquez, asked, "Is Chris there?" She replied, "Who, which Chris?" because there were a number of Chrises there at the time. "Chris, the n-----," he said, according to the police report and she hung up.
