Election protests continued in Venezuela on Tuesday as opposition leader María Corina Machado calls for Venezuela's authoritarian leader, Nicolas Maduro, to step down from power.
“I would say his departure is irreversible,” said Machado in response to Maduro claiming his victory is irreversible.
On Monday, the government-controlled electoral authority proclaimed Maduro the winner over opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, sparking widespread protests.
“He should understand that he was defeated,” she said of Maduro, a socialist who has ruled Venezuela for 11 years.
