Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and former 2024 GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy called for a five-day in-office workweek for federal employees in a Wall Street Journal op-ed on Thursday.
President-elect Trump appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to run the new Department of Government Efficiency.
“If federal employees don’t want to show up, American taxpayers shouldn’t pay them for the Covid-era privilege of staying home,” they wrote in the op-ed.
Ramaswamy has suggested requiring federal employees to come back to the office five days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. rather than instituting a "mass firing" to trim the federal bureaucracy.
