Envoys from Iran and the United States are starting talks on Saturday in Oman over Tehran’s nuclear program.
Trump has said he is considering authorizing airstrikes on nuclear sites in Iran if a formal agreement isn't reached.
The Associated Press reported that U.S. Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff arrived at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia in Oman on Saturday morning.
He came there from Russia on a private jet after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei confirmed on X that the “indirect talks” have started.
“These talks will be held at a location planned by the Omani host, with representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States seated in the halls and sides, conveying their points of view and positions to each other through the Omani Foreign Minister,” Baghaei wrote.
