The FBI officially admitted on Friday night that former President Donald Trump was hit by a bullet during an assassination attempt on his life earlier this month.

FBI Director Christopher Wray testified in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday that he was not sure what hit Trump during the July 13 shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. He claimed it could have been a bullet, glass, or shrapnel, which spurred backlash from conservative lawmakers.

The bureau now said that it was in fact a bullet that struck Trump's ear, but they are still investigating the bullet fragments found on the rally site.

"What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle," the FBI said in its statement, according to ABC News.

The admittance comes after Sen. Lindsey Graham, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, urged Wray to recant part of his testimony.

Trump also tore into the director's testimony in a post to Truth Social on Thursday night, maintaining that it was a bullet that hit him rather than anything else.

"No, it was, unfortunately, a bullet that hit my ear, and hit it hard," Trump wrote. "There was no glass, there was no shrapnel. The hospital called it a 'bullet wound to the ear,' and that is what it was."
