FBI thwarts Houston man with alleged ISIS ties from ‘9-11 style’ terror attack

A Houston-area man has been federally indicted for allegedly attempting to help the Middle East terror network ISIS plan an attack on the United States, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the southern District of Texas said Thursday.

The office in a statement identified the person charged as 28-year-old Anas Said.

Said is being charged in connection with "attempting to provide material support to ISIS, and, by his own admission, planning a terrorist attack on U.S. soil," the office said.

FBI Houston special agent in charge Douglas Williams said in a social media post that the suspect was plotting a possible attack from his apartment in far west Houston.

The bureau said the suspect was “bragging he would commit a 9/11-style attack if he had the resources.”
