Hezbollah fires hundreds of rockets at Israel following the killing of a senior commander

Lebanon's militant group Hezbollah said Thursday that it had launched over 200 rockets at multiple military bases in Israel as retaliation for Israel killing one of its senior commanders.

The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed that  “numerous projectiles and suspicious aerial targets” came from Lebanon, according to The Associated Press.

It also confirmed that some of the rockets have been intercepted.

Israel confirmed Wednesday it had killed Mohammad Naameh Nasser, who was head of one of Hezbollah's regional divisions.

Nasser was a crucial leader for Hezbollah and was involved in conflicts dating back to 2011. Israel said it also took out two other Hezbollah senior officials.

This is not the first time Hezbollah and Israel have been involved in a conflict. In 2006, they had a war that lasted for a month, but ended in a draw.

Israel is currently at war with Hamas after the terrorist group launched a surprise attack on Israel on Oct. 7 last year that resulted in 1,200 people being killed and hundreds of hostages taken.
