House Republicans propose bill to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after Trump

House Republican lawmakers have proposed a bill to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after former President Donald Trump, now the 2024 GOP presumptive presidential nominee.

The text of the bill states the airport, about 24 miles from downtown Washington, D.C., in suburban Virginia, will be named the "Donald J. Trump International Airport," if the measure is passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden.

If the bill becomes law, it would be the second airport in the D.C. metro area to be named after a former president.

The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, in Arlington, Virginia, was named after the former GOP president in 1998.

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, of Pennsylvania, chief deputy whip of the House Republican Conference, introduced the bill, which has a group of GOP co-sponsors including Reps. Andy Ogles, of Tennessee, and Troy Nehls, of Texas.
