House Republicans push for CrowdStrike CEO to testify about global tech outage

House Republicans are pushing for CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz to testify in a congressional hearing before the House Homeland Security Committee about the global tech outage that brought airport, bank and hospital systems to a halt on Friday.

The issue continues to cause disruptions at airports in particular.

Reps. Mark Green (R-Tenn.) and Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.) wrote a letter to Kurtz on Monday requesting that he participate in a hearing about the outage.

“Recognizing that Americans will undoubtedly feel the lasting, real-world consequences of this incident, they deserve to know in detail how this incident happened and the mitigation steps CrowdStrike is taking,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter.

It is unclear if Kurtz has responded yet. The lawmakers gave him until Wednesday at 5pm to reach out to the committee and schedule a hearing.
